Liam is proud to be described as a Supply Chain practitioner. His principle strengths are in developing strategic concepts, and translating these visions into reality, having been described as an “action orientated translator”. His ability to competently mix strategic understanding with operational drivers has been built around his formal trade and professional training. His underlying expertise is in Change Management and Business Improvement, and has been predominately delivered within a Supply Chain environment.
He has been employed over the last 35 years in government corporations, and in both the publicly listed and family owned company private sectors. This range of organisational structures has enabled Liam to develop a comprehensive suite of management and leadership tools, and an appreciation and understanding of contemporary organisational issues.
Liam has a career spanning all segments in the Supply Chain, enabling a first hand practical understanding of Supply Chain issues and opportunities. He gained early engineering and maintenance experience in the agricultural equipment, sugar and food processing industries, and then moved into middle management positions in the minerals extraction sector. A desire to gain operational management experience resulted in Liam joining an integrated road and rail logistics organisation where strategic, operational and business development expertise was honed. More recently, senior executive positions in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) business’s in Australia and New Zealand resulted in international business responsibilities for marketing and distribution being placed under Liam’s leadership.
Liam has 18 years of international consulting experience, facilitating and delivering projects in any of the following fields:
• Supply Chain design and optimisation • Physical Distribution Channel design and management • Strategic, tactical and operational business planning • Change Management • Fleet and Maintenance Management • Project and Contract Management • Practical application of the Total Quality Management principles to continuously improve business performance
Liam holds professional qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, and trade certificates in mechanical, auto-electrical, hydraulic and refrigeration disciplines. Liam has undertaken University professional development courses in Marketing and Logistics, as well as Project Management, and has completed a Masters in Change Management and Innovation, is a Fellow of the Supply Chain and Logistics Association in Australia and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Project Management. In 2009 Liam was appointed a founding member of the Queensland Governments newly established Queensland Transport and Logistics Council. UQ Business School has recently appointed Liam Stitt as an Industry Fellow and sits as a council member of the Lean Construction Institute Australasia in Queensland.
